Could You Use Some — Seclusion?
Apr 10th
We all work hard. Very hard.
Many people are attached or addicted to the world 24/7.
We all, however, deserve some rest, relaxation and special treatment.
That’s what we recently decided to do after a busy and very hectic few months of business coaching with our clients.
We decided to go back to Palm Springs, California.
We could not decide what hotel to stay at, so we did some research and talked to a few colleagues. We decided on a small, elegant boutique hotel. The pictures on their website looked captivating. We heard good things about the hotel, and we were ready. Really ready. More >
Did You Tell Your Customer?
Feb 21st
I was out of the country on business.
I was staying at a new hotel. It was part of an established chain and had a central location. It had been one of those long days that we all experience when we travel, and after dinner I was looking to get caught up on some sleep.
The beds were comfortable and soon I went to sleep.
In the morning it happened.
Now That’s Service

Many of you may have heard of the Hotel Bel-Air in Hollywood.
It’s an icon in Los Angeles and in the hospitality world.
I came across this article in a magazine recently I was in awe of their service levels. Here’s a few things they do for their guests, but first a quick overview of the hotel.
It’s nestled on 12 acres in the Bel-Air estates. It has only 103 rooms and 300 staff.
It is built in a Spanish mission style with different design themes from the 1930′s, 40′s and 50′s. Joe DiMaggo and Marilyn Monroe lived there. They didn’t just stay there, they lived there. Oprah frequents it often.
The Sign Said – Fresh Food Fast
Dec 28th
We travel a lot with our business coaching company. In each city, it’s always exciting to find new places to eat. Some places are wonderful and memorable, others are forgettable.
On a recent trip, we were in search of a good breakfast before our flight. We weren’t interested in hotel food, as we had eaten there the morning before. We were searching for a unique café or diner.
A short walk from the hotel was a busy café. It had an extensive menu. It also looked like a happening place. The staff appeared happy, hard working and friendly.
Approaching the cash register, I spotted a very unique sign directly over the register. The sign read -
The Express Café is Fresh Food Fast. It’s NOT Fast Food Fresh.
I re-read the sign. The wording of the sign was similar to those tongue twisters you heard when you were a kid.
As I thought about the sign I said – wow to myself.
Are You Losing Revenue Daily? They Were.

We noticed something odd.
It didn’t seem quite right.
It was at a restaurant in Covent Garden, London.
Let me explain.
It was a glorious sunny day. We decided to have lunch outside. Most people who came to the restaurant also wanted to eat outside.
We sat down soaking up the sun and our table happened to face the hostess. We were deep in discussion, but occasionally, we would look up to see the people waiting to be seated. Customers were coming to the hostess to request an outside table which was only 40% full.
In about a 20 minute interval, the hostess turned away over 15 people.
We couldn’t understand this. We were perplexed. Why were customers being turned away from outside seats?
Then we overheard the next couple asking to be seated. The hostess asked if they were having lunch. They responded they only wanted a drink. The hostess then said they would have to order lunch instead of just drinks, or they couldn’t sit outside. The couple then left.
Is Your Business Still Creative?
Aug 23rd
I was in one of my favorite cities.
Every time we go there I enjoy it even more. The city is Paris.
While walking around on my last visit, I noticed something I’d never seen before. There were bike racks in so many different locations that I lost count. These weren’t typical bike racks that are throughout most European cities. More >
Promoting Your New Products Everywhere
Jul 4th
We travel often with our company. On each trip, we’re always looking for creative ideas to help our clients’ businesses grow.
On a recent flight across the country, we ordered our drinks and we were given a snack and a napkin. As I looked at the napkin it had a lot of writing on it. It was a marketing brochure disguised as a napkin.
I was intrigued. More >
Leave Your Presentation In Your Bag
Apr 22nd
So many people in a client or business development role do this.
They do it early – far too early.
Do you?
Let us explain.
When we work with people in a business development role, almost every one of them bring out their presentation too early. They almost always go to it immediately, when they are in front of a client.
After all, a great deal of time and effort has been put into designing, modifying and memorizing their presentation. More >
They Celebrated Very Creatively
Mar 23rd
There are so many ways to be creative in business, and to celebrate unique milestones.
Let me share a story.
I was in Savannah, Georgia on a business trip. It was late at night.
As I was driving towards a billboard, I saw a list of people’s names illuminated in bright lights.
I was curious.
What did these names refer to?
